Scotland is a fairly small country but is lucky enough to have just enough hospitals in close distance of most major cities. With the opening of the new Southern General in Glasgow’s west, the city has lost 300 beds with closures of other local hospitals. With funding from Glasgow and Edinburgh University as well as other global universities wanting to encourage some development in medicines and healthcare a brand new global research hospital will be opening in Glasgow this year. Here is everything you need know about the project and their partnership with a local labour agency.

Importance Of Having Research Hospitals
With the developments of technology happening on a daily basis, it allows medicines to take advantage of these and improve or cure with those with medical conditions all over the world. Research hospitals don’t have an A&E as they allow that time to be given to the research of illnesses and treating patients will new technologies and medicines. Research hospitals also give student doctors, nurses and health practitioners the chance to experiment, learn and gain vital experience within their studies. There are only 30 research dedicated hospitals around the world with only 2 in the UK including this new Glasgow hospital. There will only be 150 beds for patients with rare conditions. Emergency or ciritcal care patients will be treated at other Scottish hospitals depending on their conditions. This research hospital is much slower paced – giving the extra time and hours to properly research and work towards finding cures.

Exciting New Features Of New Hospital
There will be an international ward where illness and conditions that are common in particular countries or have been born in particular countries. Patients will be brought to the lab and ward in order to learn more about the disease and hopefully find a cure or medicine to help with symptoms.
State of the art technology, the Glasgow hospital will see new machinery and computers that are not in any other hospital in the UK.
There will be a student learning centre for both British and International Students to network an research particular projects they are working on. Encouraging leaning and developing amongst each other is what will make the students great healthcare practitioners.
